# What is a liveness test?

A liveness test is a process where you verify your identity by filming yourself with your computer or phone camera. The purpose of a liveness test is to verify your identity and ensure that it’s in fact you that is applying for a loan and not someone else. It’s an added layer of security to the PADS Financial online application process. Liveness verification helps mitigate the risk of fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized loan applications by ensuring that the individual applying for the loan is physically present and is the legitimate owner of the identity being used.
